On 31 March 2006, HM Treasury issued a consultation

on secondary legislation for the regulation of home reversion and home purchase plans. The consultation, which follows the enactment of the Regulation of Financial Services (Land Transactions) Act 2005

, proposes amendments to the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (Regulated Activities) Order 2001 (RAO) in order to regulate certain activities carried on in relation to home reversion plans and home purchase plans, including Ijara home financing arrangements. Attached to the consultation are draft statutory instruments, including those required for consequential amendments, as well as a partial regulatory impact assessment. Responses are requested by 23 June 2006.
