This Article examines the current climate of law student well-being, based in part on a National Survey of Law Student Well-Being, originally conducted in 2014, and updated in 2021. The Article includes a Q&A with Katherine Bender, Assistant Professor of Counselor Education and Student Affairs Counseling Program Director at Bridgewater State University (MA) and David Jaffe, Associate Dean of Student Affairs, American University Washington College of Law. The Article compares the 2014 and 2021 survey results and addresses a wide array of law student well-being topics, including why law students are reluctant to seek help for substance use and mental health concerns; incorporating courses on well-being into the law school curriculum; the views of law students on law school culture; and what members of the law school community can do to foster a more nourishing, supportive, and inclusive culture for students.
