Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
A federal agency that regulates and monitors civil aviation in the United States, operating as a component of the US Department of Transportation (DOT). The primary responsibilities of the FAA are to:
Promulgate and enforce regulations for all aspects of aircraft safety.
Register and record rights in aircraft.
Develop and maintain and systems and mechanisms necessary for safe and efficient air travel.
Control and manage federal aids to aeronautic aviation.
Develop air traffic regulations.
