This Legal Update reports on significant changes to the local rules and procedures for all US federal district and appellate courts between December 25 and 31, 2013. It also reports on changes to the individual practice rules for judges in select district courts during this time period.

The US District Court for the District of Maine posted a criminal practice update.

Eastern District of Texas
The US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas posted a general order regarding the intercircuit assignment of patent cases to Circuit Judge William C. Bryson of the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
The Eastern District of Texas also posted instructions regarding appeals to the US Court of Appeals in a bankruptcy case.
Northern and Southern Districts of Mississippi
The US District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi posted a notice regarding the divisional realignment of the Southern District of Mississippi.
The local rules of the US District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Mississippi have been revised to reflect the divisional realignment. The previous version of the local rules is available here.
