We have previously reported on the September meeting of the UNCITRAL working group, which is considering proposed amendments to the UNCITRAL arbitration rules (see Legal updates, Revisions to the UNCITRAL arbitration rules and UNCITRAL investor/state revisions put on hold).
A report of the meeting has now been published and is available on the Asia Pacific Regional Arbitration Group website. The discussions addressed various topics, including whether employees or officers of a party may appear as witnesses and experts, the circumstances in which a presiding arbitrator may make an award alone, whether interim measures should be confirmed in a separate award and whether the rules should permit without notice applications for provisional measures.
