This note looks at two methods of financing the acquisition of a commercial aircraft: secured lending and finance leasing. It outlines the structure and key terms of each method, examines how special purpose vehicles are used in finance leasing and also looks at the advantages and disadvantages of finance leasing compared to secured lending in aircraft finance.
