Resources to assist in forming, operating, and dissolving a non-profit charitable organization.
Non-profit organizations exist in different forms and operate for many purposes. When discussing non-profits, however, people are generally referring to a tax-exempt charitable non-profit organized under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC). This type of non-profit must comply with specific federal and state requirements to receive and maintain its tax-exempt status. It must also be aware of the governance standards recommended by charity watchdog and rating agencies, as these groups can affect the non-profit's reputation and ability to raise funds for its mission.
