The government has published a report prepared by Sir Nicholas Stern, former World Bank chief economist, on the economics of climate change.
The report concludes that if action is taken now to combat climate change, the costs will be manageable and will in fact lead to economic growth, while the cost of doing nothing could be catastrophic, from an economic as well as a human and environmental point of view.
