State secrets (国家秘密)
Under Article 9 of the Law of the People's Republic of China on Guarding State Secrets 2010, information in the following seven broad categories may constitute a state secret, if divulgence of these matters is likely to prejudice state security and national interests, subject to the restrictions in place (such as classification rules).
Key decisions on national affairs.
National defence and military action.
Diplomatic activities and international confidentiality obligations undertaken by the state.
National economic and social developments.
Science and technology.
National security and criminal investigations.
Other matters designated by the national state secrecy authorities.
