European Parliament plenary
A session of the
European Parliament
(EP) that is attended by all
Members of the European Parliament
(MEPs).
MEPs sit in the plenary chamber in their European political party groupings. Those who do not belong to a group sit as non-attached members.
Plenary sessions of the EP involve political debate and the adoption of legislative and non-legislative resolutions.
EP plenary sessions are predominantly held in Strasbourg, but sessions increasingly take place in Brussels.
