Reporting accountant

The accountancy firm which reviews and reports on financial information in a circular or prospectus for the benefit of existing or potential investors. Provided that they have appropriate experience, a company's auditor usually acts as reporting accountant.
For the key regulatory, commercial and practical matters to be considered when agreeing the reporting accountant's engagement letter and the comfort package to be delivered in connection with an initial public offering, see Practice note, Negotiating a reporting accountant's engagement letter for an IPO (premium listing, standard listing or AIM admission).
