Respondent
This term has different meanings depending on the context in which it is used:
In the context of employment law, a person, company or organisation against which a claimant brings a claim in an employment tribunal. For further information, see Practice note, Employment tribunal practice and procedure: overview.
In the context of family law, the person named in an application by the applicant as the respondent and who therefore should respond to the application.
