Discussions or negotiations held between representatives of the
European Parliament
(EP), the
Council of the EU
and the
European Commission
to try to come to a compromise on the final text of a proposed
legislative act
that falls under the
ordinary legislative procedure
. Also known as interinstitutional meetings. Informal trialogue negotiations are often conducted on the basis of
multi-column documents
.
