Employment Dispute Arbitration Commission (劳动人事争议仲裁委员会)

These are arbitration commissions established at county, city or municipal district levels under the Local Departments of Human Resources and Social Security (Local Labour Bureaus). The commissions hear employment disputes. Employment dispute arbitration is commenced by filing an application with a commission. The commission will then designate a specific Employment Arbitration Tribunal to handle the hearing of the dispute. The tribunal is formed of three designated arbitrators, or one arbitrator for simple disputes. In China, most employment arbitrators are officials from the Local Labour Bureaus.
