An article to introduce China's newly enacted Data Security Law (DSL). The article discusses the key elements of the DSL, including the scope of application, basic data security systems, protection of important data and national core data, security obligations of data processors, cross-border transfers of data as well as administrative penalties for violations of the DSL.
