A sample paid sick leave policy for use by California employers with employees covered by the California's Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act, also known as the California Paid Sick Leave Law, as amended by S.B. 616, which takes effect on January 1, 2024. Further customization of this policy is needed when an employer is subject to applicable local paid sick leave laws. This policy includes an option to grant paid sick leave under the accrual basis, as well as an alternative option, which is to front-load a lump sum of paid sick leave, along with their corresponding provisions.
