A Practice Note explaining how to prepare for and argue a motion (oral argument) and handle post-decision procedure in actions in the New Jersey Superior Court, Law Division, Civil Part or in non-foreclosure actions in the Chancery Division, General Equity Part. Specifically, this Note addresses preparing for an in-person or virtual (remotely by telephone or videoconference) oral argument, strategies for effective oral argument, preparing and serving an order, and obtaining the argument transcript. This Note also explains counsel's options to challenge the judge's decision by filing a motion for reconsideration or seeking an appeal.
