This note provides an overview of the digitalisation of trade finance transactions. It begins with an overview of traditional trade finance transactions and examines how distributed ledger technology (DLT) and other digital platforms have already and may further impact the traditional document intensive approach to trade finance transactions. It further explores the key issues parties should consider when using DLT or other digital media when executing trade finance transactions.
