The US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) announced that the EFS-Web system and the Private Patent Application Information Retrieval (Private PAIR) tool will be fully replaced by the Patent Center system effective November 8, 2023.

The US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) announced that the EFS-Web system and the Private Patent Application Information Retrieval (Private PAIR) tool will be fully replaced by the Patent Center system effective November 8, 2023.
On September 20, 2023, the USPTO announced that the Patent Center system will fully replace the EFS-Web system and the Private Patent Application Information Retrieval (Private PAIR) tool for electronic filing and management of patent applications effective November 8, 2023.
The Patent Center system will provide:
  • Improved system performance.
  • A more intuitive user interface.
  • New features.
The USPTO will be holding training events demonstrating how to use the Patent Center to access publicly available documents, including:
  • Patent applications.
  • Patent publications.
  • Patents.
