EU subsidies to farmers within pillar 1 of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).Direct payments, also known as income support for farmers, constitute a considerable amount of the total CAP budget. The European Agricultural Guarantee Fund (EAGF), the CAP funds direct payments to farmers and measures to regulate agricultural markets.

Negotiations with the European Council and the European Parliament to reform CAP and reach an overall agreement to adopt the three new regulations for the period 2023-2027. The reforms have been set back two years due to Covid -19 restrictions.
