Financial relief
In place of ancillary relief, a term commonly used to describe the range of financial orders that the court may make in proceedings for:
- Divorce.
Financial relief is specifically defined in proceedings under section 37 of the Matrimonial Causes Act 1973 (MCA 1973). For further information, see Practice note, Section 37 Matrimonial Causes Act 1973: avoidance of disposition orders: Definitions of financial relief and defeating a claim.
In proceedings under Part III of Matrimonial and Family Proceedings Act 1984, financial relief is defined in section 17.
