Regulated activity
In accordance with the
Financial Services and Markets Act 2000
(FSMA), includes an activity of a specified kind which is carried on by way of business and either relates to an investment of a specified kind or a specified activity of a kind which is carried on in relation to property of any kind (
section 22
, FSMA
). The
Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (Regulated Activities) Order 2001 (SI 2001/544)
(as amended) establishes the activities to be regulated under FSMA. The activities include, for example:
Accepting deposits.
Issuing electronic money.
Effecting and carrying out contracts of insurance.
Dealing in investments and arranging deals in investments.
Making arrangements with a view to transactions in investments.
Operating a
multilateral trading facility
(MTF).
Managing investments.
