Office of Management and Budget (OMB)

An agency within the Executive Branch of the US federal government that assists with implementing the President's policy agenda. OMB's responsibilities include:
  • Developing and administering the President's budget.
  • Reviewing significant federal regulations from the executive administrative agencies.
  • Assessing and managing information collection requests (see Standard Document, COBRA Initial (General) Notice).
  • Reviewing and coordinating actions of the federal administrative agencies.
  • Coordinating and clearing legislative materials and communications with Congress.
  • Clearing executive orders and memoranda to heads of federal agencies.
OMB also delineates Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs), which are used by the Census Bureau and other federal agencies for statistics purposes.
OMB is located in Washington D.C.
