This note summarises the EU legislation that implements the Montreal Protocol on substances that deplete the ozone layer in the EU. The main legislation is the EU Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) Regulation 2009 ((EC) No 1005/2009), which is being replaced and repealed by the EU ODS Regulation 2024 ((EU) 2024/590).
