This note provides an overview of the conduct of business requirements in the FCA's Insurance: Conduct of Business sourcebook (ICOBS).

In general terms, ICOBS specifies how insurers, reinsurers, insurance intermediaries and reinsurance intermediaries should interact with customers (that is, policyholders and potential policyholders) in relation to the sale and administration of certain insurance contracts referred to as non-investment insurance contracts.
