The SEC has announced plans to introduce the Office of Crypto Assets to work with the SEC Division of Corporation Finance's Disclosure Review Program to review SEC filings involving crypto assets.
On September 9, 2022, the SEC announced plans to introduce the Office of Crypto Assets to work with the SEC Division of Corporation Finance's Disclosure Review Program (DRP) to review filings involving crypto assets. In the announcement, the SEC states that assigning crypto companies and filings to one office will enable the DRP to better focus its resources and expertise to address the unique and evolving filing review issues related to crypto assets.
The new office will join the seven existing DRP offices, and another new office focused on life sciences, which provide focused review of issuer filings that are grouped by industry expertise. The DRP anticipates the new office will be established later this fall.
