Retained EU law is known as assimilated law as regards all times after the end of 2023. This renaming by the Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Act 2023 aimed to reflect underlying legal changes to the operation and content of retained EU law, most of which took effect on 1 January 2024.
For more information on the operation of UK law following the end of the transition period, see UK legal change post-transition and UK-EU agreements toolkit and Practical Law's Brexit page.
