TSX Venture Exchange (TSXV)

The TSX Venture Exchange is an exchange for the securities of early-stage businesses. It is owned and operated by the TMX Group Limited and was formerly known as the Canadian Venture Exchange (CDNX).
There are two levels of listing, Tiers 1 and 2, Tier 2 being for more junior businesses. Companies that no longer meet continued listing requirements of Tier 2 may be delisted or moved to NEX. If the business of an issuer grows, it may become eligible to graduate to a listing with the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX).
On December 17, 2015, a whitepaper Revitalizing TSX Venture Exchange: Canada's Public Venture Market was published outlining TSXV's tactics designed to address the current environment and secure a strong future. The initiatives outlined in this paper are aimed at improving the client experience on TSXV. The TSXV is planning to impact three areas to:
  • Meaningfully reduce its clients' administrative and compliance costs without compromising investor confidence.
  • Expand the base of investors financing companies and generally enhance liquidity.
  • Diversify and grow the stock list to increase the attractiveness of the marketplace.
The TSXV held a series of town hall meetings across Canada in early 2016 to encourage ongoing dialogue and received feedback on social media as well. On March 23, 2016, the TSXV published this Progress Report.
