Federal Trade Commission (FTC)
An independent federal agency whose main goals are to protect consumers and to ensure a strong competitive market by enforcing various consumer protection and antitrust laws. These laws are meant to protect consumers and the market from harmful business and anticompetitive practices. The FTC is headed by five commissioners appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate.
