A discussion of the laws and regulations that govern the siting, construction, and operation of US liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects. This Practice Note addresses the laws and regulations applied by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC or Commission), the Department of Energy (DOE), and the US Maritime Administration (MARAD), and each agency's role in approving and regulating the construction and operation of LNG projects. It also addresses the scope of the environmental review conducted by each agency.
