Expatriate Coverage Under the ACA | Practical Law
This Article identifies commonly-encountered issues involving expatriates under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) (that is, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), as amended by the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 (HCERA)), including whether an expatriate continues to be subject to the ACA while working outside the United States. This Article, which reflects guidance issued through January 2014, does not address more recent developments involving expatriate coverage, including under the Expatriate Health Coverage Clarification Act of 2014 (EHCCA).
