Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP)
A federal office within the Department of Labor (DOL) responsible for ensuring that non-discrimination laws are followed by employers doing business with the federal government.
The OFCCP prohibits employment discrimination and requires affirmative action in the hiring and advancing in employment of persons in select groups. The Office administers and enforces three laws that apply to federal government contractors and subcontractors, which are:
Receives and audits reports required under the three laws.
Issues regulations implementing the three laws.
Audits and investigates complaints about federal contractors' and subcontractors' personnel policies and practices.
Before recommending enforcement litigation in federal court, negotiates settlement agreements with contractors and subcontractors that violate the three laws.
Recommends enforcement actions to the DOL's Solicitor of Labor against contractors and subcontractors that violate the three laws.
Provides training workshops and educational publications.
