A permit required to be obtained by a foreigner employee from a competent office of the local Public Security Bureau (PSB) within 30 days of the employee's entry into China and after the issuance of the work permit. This permit grants the approval for the foreigner to stay and reside in China. The validity period of this residence permit is usually the same as that of the work permit. A foreigner must appear personally when applying for a residence permit for the first time.
