Construction liens (also known as mechanic's liens or mechanic's and materialman's liens) are prescribed and governed under Florida's Construction Lien Law (Lien Law), a comprehensive statutory scheme (§§ 713.001 to 713.37, Fla. Stat.). Creating, perfecting, and enforcing construction liens is a multi-step process requiring strict compliance with all the statutory requirements. Failure to strictly follow the Lien Law's requirements can result in a loss of lien rights.
