For example, Art. I, § 2 of the United States Constitution limits congressional candidates to persons twenty-five and older with seven years citizenship, and Art. II, § 1 of the United States Constitution limits presidential candidates to natural born citizens thirty-five and older. Moreover, Art. II, § 1 of the United States Constitution provides that a vote for the office of the President is for an Elector rather than for an individual presidential candidate. The Supreme Court has upheld numerous state restrictions on who may qualify to run for certain offices.
