A Practice Note explaining how to collect hard copy documents and electronically stored information (ESI) in a manner that enables an entity to properly produce documents and ESI in response to discovery in federal civil litigation. This Note also addresses how an entity's collection protocol impacts its own ability to search, review, and authenticate collected documents and ESI.
