This Legal Update reports on significant changes to the local civil and criminal rules and procedures for all US federal district courts and appellate courts between January 27 and February 2, 2016. The US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit amended its attorney discipline rules.

Eastern District of New York

The US District Court for the Southern District of New York updated its CM/ECF electronic new civil case opening manual.
Judge Paul A. Engelmayer updated his individual rules of practice for sentencing proceedings.
Third Circuit
Eastern District of Pennsylvania
The US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania issued an order regarding chambers relocations.
Fifth Circuit
Eastern District of Texas
The US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas issued a general order regarding the transfer of Sherman Division civil cases.
Northern District of Mississippi
The US District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi updated its injunction bond form.
Sixth Circuit
Eastern District of Kentucky
The US District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky increased its pro hac vice fee.
Western District of Tennessee
The US District Court for the Western District of Tennessee updated its local fees.

Northern District of Illinois

Magistrate Judge Maria Valdez was appointed presiding magistrate judge.
Southern District of Illinois
The US District Court for the Southern District of Illinois updated its:
- Local rules, effective March 1, 2016. A copy of the revised rules is available here.
- Electronic case filing requirements, requiring:
- a civil cover sheet for new complaints; and
- attorneys to open all civil cases online via the CM/ECF system.
