Disclosure of trust information: counsel's opinion not legally privileged | Practical Law

Trustees could not deny a beneficiary access to counsel's opinion on the basis of legal professional privilege where it had been obtained for the benefit of the trust. Where the trustees had acted reasonably their costs should be paid out of the trust fund on the indemnity basis even though the claimant beneficiary had been the successful party in the proceedings, the High Court has held (Blades v Isaac and another [2016] EWHC 601 (Ch)).
