The International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) Secretariat has published a new issue of the ICSID Caseload Statistics.
The ICSID Secretariat has published ICSID Caseload - Statistics (Issue 2013-2). This issue provides an overview of cases registered or otherwise administered by ICSID as of 30 June 2013. In first half of 2013, 14 new cases were registered at ICSID (13 under the ICSID Convention, one under the ICSID Additional Facility Rules). In the fiscal year (1 July 2012 - 30 June 2013), 43 cases were registered (38 under the ICSID Convention and five under the ICSID Additional Facility Rules), a slight increase on the previous fiscal year which saw 39 cases registered.
As usual, the document provides a detailed breakdown of the cases handled by ICSID, including the:
  • Basis of consent for ICSID jurisdiction (for this fiscal year, 71% under BITs).
  • Geographical distribution of cases by state party (for this fiscal year, 33% against Eastern Europe & Central Asia countries).
  • Economic sectors involved in cases (for this fiscal year, 25% from Oil, Gas & Mining sector).
  • Data on the outcomes of ICSID proceedings and annulment proceedings under the ICSID Convention .
