This Legal Update reports on significant changes to the local rules and procedures for all US federal district courts and appellate courts between June 17 and 23, 2015. It also reports on changes to the individual practice rules for the judges in select district courts during this period.
Second Circuit
Northern District of New York
The US District Court for the Northern District of New York amended the following general orders:
- General order 15: Electronic Filing of Documents, Civil and Criminal Forfeiture Actions.
- General order 22: Administrative Procedures for Electronic Case Filing.
Third Circuit
District of Delaware
Judge Gregory M. Sleet:
- Updated the general info/briefs section of his chambers page.
- Posted new preliminary jury instructions – civil.
- Posted new preliminary jury instructions – patent.
Eastern District of Pennsylvania
Judge Wendy Beetlestone revised her policies and procedures. A copy of the previous version is available here.
Fifth Circuit
Eastern District of Louisiana
The US District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana announced that all CM/ECF documents should be converted and not scanned to PDF.
Judge Kurt D. Engelhardt added additional practices and procedures to his court page.
Southern District of Texas
Judge Alfred H. Bennett added his procedures and practices.
Judge David Hittner posted his civil procedures manual.
Seventh Circuit
Northern District of Illinois
The US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois issued a notice regarding a new procedure for attorneys when filing a motion to withdraw, effective immediately. A fillable notification of party contact information form was added to the court's website.
