Jackson Lewis: District of Columbia's Amended Wage Theft Prevention Act Effective February 26 | Practical Law
This wage and hour Law Firm Publication by Jackson Lewis P.C. discusses the District of Columbia Department of Employment Services' announcement that the Wage Theft Prevention Amendment Act will take effect on February 26, 2015. Among the changes are increased timekeeping and recordkeeping requirements for exempt and nonexempt employees as well as changes to the administrative hearing process. The law requires employers to give employees written notice of their wages within 90 days of the Act's effective date and to post a copy or summary of the Act at the workplace. Within 60 days of the effective date, the Mayor's office is to provide both of these documents to employers.
