On 31 January 2007 the board of Corus recommended its shareholders vote in favour of a scheme of arrangement to implement a final offer for the company by Tata Steel. This marked the end of a four-month public battle for control of Corus between Tata and CSN. This article considers how competing schemes of arrangement were made to work and also looks at the accelerated auction that finally settled the battle.
