California Nonresidential Building Energy Use Disclosure Program

Also known as AB 1103. A program implemented and overseen by the California Energy Commission to increase awareness in California of energy consumption and production and to increase market demand for more energy efficient buildings. The program requires owners and operators to disclose energy use and benchmarking data for buildings to prospective:
  • Buyers in sale transactions.
  • Tenants in lease transactions.
  • Lenders in finance transactions.
On October 8, 2015, AB 802 was signed into law eliminating any state wide energy disclosure in California as of January 1, 2016. AB 802 repeals AB 1103 and accompanying regulations. The Program is no longer be effective after December 31, 2015
