Triad benefit

As used for electricity, the name formerly given to the avoidance of transmission network use of system charges (TNUoS charges) by an electricity supplier where an embedded generator generated during a triad period. The benefit was usually shared between the embedded generator and the electricity supplier. Large industrial customers that were directly connected to the electricity transmission system could also obtain a triad benefit from the avoidance of TNUoS charges. The energy market regulator, Ofgem, launched a review of these benefits in March 2017, resulting in the benefits being phased out.
