The Litigation and Financial Law Committees of the City of London Law Society have responded to the Ministry of Justice's consultation seeking views on proposed revisions to Council Regulation (EC) 44/2001 on jurisdiction and the recognition and enforcement of judgments in civil and commercial matters (Brussels Regulation). Views were sought, in particular, on whether it would be in the UK's national interests to opt in to negotiations on the European Commission's revised Regulation.
