Non-Fossil Fuel Obligation (NFFO)

The obligation under one of the five Non-Fossil Fuel Obligation Orders made under section 32 of the Electricity Act 1989 (before its repeal and saving by the Electricity from Non-Fossil Fuel Sources Saving Arrangements Order (SI 2000/2727), being the government’s principle mechanism for promoting renewable electricity before the Renewables Obligation (RO), and for providing support to nuclear energy in the early 1990s.
