Competition Commission.

A statutory body established under the UK Competition Act 1998 (to replace the former Monopolies and Mergers Commission) which investigated and reported on matters relating to trade competition (such as in-depth inquiries into mergers and markets referred to it by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) and regulatory references and appeals by certain sector regulators).
On 1 April 2014, the Competition Commission and the OFT ceased to exist and the Competition and Markets Authority (established by the Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Act 2013) took over all of the functions of the Competition Commission and the competition (and certain consumer) functions of the OFT.
