Regulation T (12 CFR 220) (REG T)

The Federal Reserve Board regulation that implements Section 7(c) of the Exchange Act and governs the amount of credit that securities brokers and dealers may extend to customers for the purpose of buying securities. The regulation is intended to protect the financial condition of securities brokers and dealers, protect investors and limit speculative bubbles in the securities markets by limiting the amount of credit available to purchase securities.
