A New York court recently granted the plaintiff in a matrimonial case permission to serve the defendant with a divorce summons solely by sending it to him in a private message via Facebook. The court's opinion predicts that service through social media sites is the next frontier in the developing law of service of process. However, a party may serve process through a social media platform only in limited circumstances.
